Certina strengthens its ongoing partnership with the Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC) by launching the vibrant DS SUPER PH1000M STC.
Since 2017, Certina and STC have collaborated to protect sea turtles and their habitats. Drawing inspiration from the 1970 DS SUPER PH1000M, this new model features a striking blue dial with orange accents and luminous indexes. It is powered by the Powermatic 80 movement, boasting an 80-hour power reserve and a Nivachron™ balance spring.
Established in 1959, the Florida-based STC is dedicated to ensuring the survival of sea turtles through research, educational campaigns, and direct aid to injured or endangered turtles. Coincidentally, Certina introduced its DS concept and turtle emblem in the same year, marking a 65-year connection between the brand and sea turtles. Beyond financial contributions, Certina supports STC through video content, joint press events, and special point-of-sale displays to increase public awareness. Sea turtles face growing threats from rising sea levels, plastic pollution, coastal development, and disruptive lighting.
The DS SUPER PH1000M STC is built for underwater exploration, with water resistance up to 100 bar (1,000 meters). Its Powermatic 80 movement ensures precision and reliability, complementing the DS (Double Security) system. Key features include a unidirectional turning bezel with a security system, automatic winding, an 80-hour power reserve, and an anti-magnetic Nivachron™ balance spring. The dial's blue reflects the STC logo, while the orange accents match existing DS Super PH1000M models, providing a bold contrast to the sturdy black rubber strap. This remarkable diver’s watch is ready for adventures both on land and underwater.
Certina's commitment to the STC's mission is unwavering, with the partnership dating back to 2017. The brand has released multiple special editions of its watches, combining horological expertise and robust design with the STC's conservation goals. As with previous editions, a portion of the proceeds from this watch will support the STC's efforts directly.
