Since 1926, Nivada Grenchen has exemplified Swiss watchmaking excellence. In 2018, Guillaume Laidet revived the brand to make its iconic models accessible to a broader audience. Today, the sleek and sophisticated Chronosport from the '70s is captivating watch enthusiasts worldwide.
Laidet discovered the rare Chronosport on an auction site and shared it on social media, igniting demand for its reissue. With only about 20 prototypes made in the '70s, this model is a coveted treasure for collectors.
The new Chronosport features an elegant, textured matte black dial with embossed taupe sub-dials at 12 and 9 o'clock. It includes a tachymeter scale, pointed baton indices with Super-LumiNova®, and hands filled with yellow or white accents. The bold white logo and Paul Newman Art Deco typography add visual depth. Designed by renowned dial maker Jean Singer, it incorporates elements from sought-after watches like the Omega Speedmaster Racing and Heuer Skipper.
Powered by the automatic Valjoux-7750-ETA movement, the Chronosport offers a 42-hour power reserve and multiple functions. It has a 38mm stainless steel case, a domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, and a fluted unidirectional rotating aluminium bezel. Water-resistant up to 200 meters, it’s available with 10 strap options.
The Chronosport’s tachymeter scale allows speed measurement over a known distance, a feature that pilots and race car drivers value. This blend of practicality and aesthetics enhances its appeal.
The Chronosport's reissue combines vintage charm with modern functionality, making it a standout piece for collectors and watch enthusiasts.
