Our KAWS x Ikepod drop is your chance to own a part of watch history

Updated: Dec 17, 2021

IKEPOD X KAWS vintages watches

In 2012 Ikepod teamed up with New York City-based artist KAWS for a special edition high-end watch. Based on the Ikepod Horizon designed by Marc Newson, the Ikepod Horizon KAWS was designed with styles markers of Brian Donnelly artwork. The hands are playing with the artist signature, that you can find on the strap too. A small dot indicate you the hour hand while the minute has not.

Dial complexity made this watch a pure work of art. There were less than 120 watches produced and Phillips sold one for CHF 37 000 in a HK auction last year. A rare watch launched at Colette in 2012 for CHF 15 000 in 4 colors versions. Already 10 years that this collaboration was out and still an UFO on the planet watch, even if the meantime the Kaws auction price rocketed to become a worldwide art leader.

From High Snobiety:

Real fans will recognise this collab. In 2012, Swiss watch company Ikepod collaborated with KAWS on an instant grail set of watches. Only 100 of each model were made, and the release dropped exclusively at colette, instantly selling out. Since the initial release, the watches have rarely resold with only a few surfacing online — with one watch alone selling for more than $38,000.

Since the 90s and early 2000s, Ikepod has been one of the go-to brands for seasoned watch collectors and eclectic watch enthusiasts. Co-founder Marc Newson helped bring the brand into the mainstream with his industrial but organic approach to watch design. Though Newson is no longer part of the company, his design language is still very much a part of the brand's approach to design, even in today's super rare KAWS collab.

Now, exclusively for HIGHArt, we're releasing all four of the watches as new old stock in a complete set directly from Ikepod. Coming in a custom-made 1-1 box, this is the only brand-new version of the nearly 10-year-old design that is available. Furthermore, it is the only full set available to buy online and is your only chance to own a piece of both watch, and art history. Obviously, history doesn't come cheap and this piece is no exception. The whole set comes to an eye watering $174,800.

The collaboration sees KAWS, aka Brian Donnelly, take on the design of a special-edition IKEPOD Horizon. Playing with the artists signature chompers and X motifs, the watch is clearly a KAWS piece. The timepieces come in black and red, grey and white, tonal black and grey and black colorways and feature a 44mm dial, solid UFO titanium case and Swiss Caliber ETA 2892 movement. A sapphire crystal and black rubber strap top off the watch.

The drop comes part of our HIGHArt release, featuring more than 100 unexpected and limited edition art pieces, apparel and more from collaborators like Chito, Honey Dijon, Parra, Matt McCormick, Laurie Simmons and more.

This piece is one-of-one and is set to sell out fast so if you happen to have six figures lying around, check back on Monday December 6 at 3pm CET / 9am EST when it drops.
