TAG Heuer starts the new year with flair, unveiling the Carrera Chronograph inspired by the iconic Dato layout.
In 2023, TAG Heuer introduced three Carrera timepieces, and in 2024, the sporty Swiss manufacturer presented a green monochrome variant with a date at 9 o’clock, aligning with the Dato configuration.
One must delve into its evolution to understand the Carrera collection's rich history. Debuting in 1963, it initially lacked a date complication. In 1966, a date function at 12 o’clock birthed the Dato design.
A significant shift in 1968 saw the date window move to nine o’clock, giving rise to the iconic Dato layout, symbolizing TAG Heuer’s precision and style commitment.
The distinctive mono subdial setup of the Dato, affectionately dubbed "Cyclop," became a cherished collector’s piece. A collaboration with Hodinkee in 2021 revitalized the Dato with refinements, transitioning to a 30-minute recorder and changing the flange colour from white to black.
The Carrera 45 Dato gained popularity for its modern aesthetics and exceptional legibility. Characterized by black-and-white contrasts, it embodied Jack Heuer’s readability focus.
The watch 39 mm watch 45 features the automatic inhouse cal. TH20-07 movement with flyback chronograph and 80 hours of power reserve. It is water resistant to 100 m.
